Dyess Air Force Base  -  Atlas ICBM Operations
Atlas ICBMs were shipped to Dyess from the GDA Plant in San Diego on C-141 Aircraft
 
The Atlas was shipped sitting on the same Transporter used for moving on the ground
 
Metal tracks and small metal wheels were used for loading and unloading
 
Once on the ground a rubber tired wheel assembly was attached to the transporter
 
The Transporter Assembly was also used to raise the Atlas to a vertical position for installing in the Silo
 
A 2 Bay Service and Check Out Building was constructed at the Base
