As it turned out a few years later when GranPa met your GranMa and we started dating I discovered she lived just around the corner from the Coodys and went to school with Mr. Coody's son, Charles.
GranMa use to tell me that all Mr. Coody's son ever did was stay on the golf course.
So, it was with some irony that I had known of the Coodys several years before meeting your GranMa and I will assume he did ok by staying on the golf course.
The Wikipedia Online encyclopedia had this to say about the Mr. Coody
Billy Charles Coody (born July 13, 1937) is an American golfer.
Coody was born in Stamford, Texas. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1960 and made his pro debut in 1963. He is mainly known for winning the Masters Tournament in 1971, but he had two other wins on the PGA Tour and three wins off Tour in his regular career. He played on the 1971 U.S. Ryder Cup team.
As a senior, he played on the Senior PGA Tour/Champions Tour, winning five times. He was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. Coody played his final Masters Tournament in 2006, then retired from active competition.
As GranPa has told you grankids, life goes on and things change which are some times sad. I drove by you GranMa's old house while home in 2003 for my 50th High School Reunion and also drove by Mr. Coody's house where Jumbo was born only to discover the Coody house was no longer there. Gone completely with nothing but a vacant lot.
